What to expect at the consultation

• A careful review of your letter — what the government is actually alleging, and what its theory would require it to prove.
• An honest assessment — including, where the facts support it, that the government's case looks weak. And when it doesn't, you'll hear that too.
• A concrete plan for the deadline — typically starting with counsel contacting the assigned government attorney to announce representation and request an extension (sometimes granted, never guaranteed).
• Straight talk about fees — engagements are structured in phases, so decisions about litigation come later, with better information.

• Your naturalization certificate (if available)
• Any old immigration documents you still have
• A rough timeline of entries, applications, and any name changes
